Our Program
At Sal Rediscovery, our mission is to build bridges between those struggling with mental health and their families. When someone’s feeling depressed, anxious, or something similar, they may feel isolated, even from those they love the most. We have a proven track record of being able to “build a bridge,” so to speak, by helping our patients to improve their mental health and rediscover their connection to those closest to them.
Our Program
Our Director
The idea of building bridges between those struggling with their mental health and their families is woven into everything we do. That comes from the top. Our director, Salisu Aikoye, MD, is a double-board certified physician.
He underwent a psychiatry fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles with a special interest in global mental health, after completing psychiatric residencies at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in Nigeria, and Central Michigan University, Saginaw respectively. Now, he uses his expertise to help create and implement personalized treatment plans for all of our patients.
Treatment for Addiction and Mental Health
Many of our patients have struggles with both mental health as well as addiction. We treat the entire person, their body as well as their mind, as we’ve found that can lead to the best, most lasting results.
Whether someone is dealing with their mental health and/or addiction, we work with the patient to find the underlying causes, the underlying traumas. Instead of merely treating the symptoms, we help them to discover what’s causing those symptoms. Then, by focusing on that, we can help them to develop the skills and the understanding to live their lives how they want to. We can do so in a variety of ways.
Therapy
Every treatment plan at Sal Rediscovery Center is different, yes, but just about all of them will involve some form of counseling, some kind of therapy. In both individual and group sessions, all of our patients are in a safe, comfortable, and secure environment, with one of our trained, expert therapists. There, they learn what negative thoughts and beliefs have held them back as well as ways to replace those with more positive, healthier ones, along with so much else.
Medications and Advanced Treatments
We offer medications and other kinds of treatments for mental health as well as addiction. For example, properly-administered medications such as Suboxone and Vivitrol can help those who have developed a chemical dependency on toxic substances.
By that same token, TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) can help with depression, boosting a person’s mood safely. A noninvasive treatment approved by the FDA for depression, TMS sends magnetic waves to the portions of the brain associated with depression, changing them in as little as 25 to 40 minutes.
All of our treatments are provided and overseen by our experienced staff. Each of these treatments and many others may be included in your individualized treatment plan, should our staff determine that they can best help you right now.
Programs Tailored to You
When you first arrive at Sal Rediscovery, you will undergo a thorough evaluation by our medical staff. With that information, they’ll determine what your plan should be. Additionally, they’ll go over with you which option would best serve you.
For example, many struggling with addiction start with our ambulatory detox. In that program, you can safely cleanse your body of toxins, all while being monitored and guided by our staff when you’re here, and then, you can return to sleeping in your bed at home at night.
We offer a PHP and an IOP. Our PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) is our highest level of care. For six to eight hours a day, five days a week, you’ll receive our most intensive care, right here onsite.
The IOP, on the other hand, contains everything that our PHP does. The difference is that, in the IOP program, you’ll spend six to eight hours here a week. We can help you to determine which level of care is right for you and then, we can adjust your care accordingly so that it always meets your needs.
